Lake Placid: An Orange Tradition
Making a Statement
This past summer we were honored, by Mr. Leveille and Mr. DiRossi, as the featured 501c3 at The Summit Lacrosse Tournament, in Lake Placid, New York. This prestigious honor is awarded to the non-profit that best exemplifies the mission, activities and spirit of a philanthropic entity. Once again, our gracious hosts, the Paul Carcaterra, Jason Gebhardt, Chris McCartan, Rob Mulligan
and Doug Jackson families opened their doors to the fabulous Camp Twiggy lodge
to an amazing crowd of Orange faithful.
A Silent Auction
The silent auction exceeded our expectations and we were able to extend funding
not only to the Wisdom House, but also the UVA Yeardley Love Foundation and
Gary Gait’s Women’s Lacrosse Program.
Overwhelming Results
We look forward to seeing you all again at this summer’s games August 4-12.
On the field, our Oranges, of all ages, faired well with the original Burnt Orange side finally
taking the Grand Masters title from the Pure Motive/FU Lax. The Burning Orange came
in second in a close, well fought battle and
as attendance grew we expect to field
another team this year.
Syracuse: On the Homefront
Celebrating a Legacy
The October Alumni vs Varsity Games in the Dome were a big success with record setting
participation and attendance. I enjoyed talking to those of you who came out to Manley Field House, before the game, to tour the new men’s locker room facilities and to see Jim Santiago's impressive, thirty-six-foot-long SU Lacrosse Legacy Mural (1916-2010).
These two large and very important additions to our storied program have been well received by all. Jim will be working with Matt Palumb and the coaches updating the mural annually until the Men's Lacrosse program's 100 year centennial anniversary in the fall of 2016.
